We can really hurt the person or persons closest to us with our misuse of the power of words! Remember words can create or destroy, build or tear down, give life or death. We underestimate the power of the 60,000 words we speak daily, especially with our family and those that are closest to us.

Words are power! In Genesis we find that God literally spoke the creation into existence. Words can and do bring peace or war, encouragement or discouragement. Words give life or death, and you and I choose which. Words can bless or curse, build or tear down, manipulate others or give others freedom, control or liberate, defile or cleanse. Words have created nations and toppled nations, words have destroyed or empowered, and again the choice is ours. Just check out James chapter three and see what God has to say about the power of words!
What kind of self talk do you repeat over and over in your mind? Thoughts of victory, courage, faith, power and confidence, or words of negativity, defeat, and pessimism? Though we have been naturally programmed by patterns and habits we saw in our parents, as well as experiences we have lived through, you can change your negative self talk and reprogram your recording to speak words of faith, courage, victory and optimism. This is so crucial because it is impossible to act in direct opposite and contrast to the way you see yourself and the words that you are constantly repeating in your mind. If you have negative self talk and you are trying to live a happy and joyful life, it will not happen until you change your inner self talk and establish a new positive pattern.
